Knowing Your Resources
So You Can Capitalize On It!

I grew up to always try and do everything yourself, be resourceful and to grow your own food, as well as not rely too much on others where you feel dependent. Doing so in all those ways feels really wholesome and good, in the deepest sense I can imagine.
At our home, we have chickens. And lemon trees, figs, lavender and more on our property. I love going into your garden and using what we have. It’s fresh, and it tastes amazing!! There’s a quality that is hard to describe but my soul really resonates with it somehow.
What I have learned that there is something really important about growing your own food, even if it is an herb in your apartment window. I have learned that it keeps our mind engaged. We are brought into the current moment and no where else. More importantly, it keeps us connecting to something else that is “being”, too. When we care for it, it gives back! And we get to use it for ourselves. What a bonus!
What I do with my girls is we sell some of our produce with others. We have flyers, prices set, and what the girls sell, they get their share to save and eventually put in a savings account at Charles Schwab for investing. I want them to learn how to grow money passively. What will $50 look like in 10 years if you have a 5% return, or even a 10% return? Rich Dad, Poor Dad, here we come!
Financial skills are extremely necessary, as I am sure you know, but do we ever go through our lives and take stock of our own personal resources and skills we can draw upon when we become unsure of ourselves?

Wouldn’t it be nice to have a list somewhere to refer to to remind you of all that you know, and all that you are? What about your kindness, clarity, problem solver, connector between people, early riser, optimism, skills? Do you play an instrument? Or have unique skills that people are always remarking upon? If you do, write those skills down!
It’s not boasting to acknowledge your skills; it’s feeling confident in who you are and what you know!
Seeing these skills will prop you up when you need it most and will inspire you to look more deeply into what you already know but never gave yourself credit for. And that’s a good thing in my book.

I invite you to write down all the qualities and skills you have, big or small on this Resources List. Write down everything! And when you don’t think you can offer the world anything, if you are down in the dumps, look at this list. Again and again. It will set you back on your path and into a happier more solid way of being.
Fondly,
